Emergency Solutions Grant Program

The purpose of the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program is to assist individuals and families to quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis or homelessness. These Rapid Re-Housing and Prevention financial support services are offered to individuals and families in Ontario, Seneca and Yates Counties.

​

This program can help individuals and families that:

​

• are homeless

• are at risk of homelessness

• who are at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). 

• need housing assistance

• need help with security deposits

• need help with utility payments

• need help with moving costs

• need help with motel and hotel vouchers

• fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence

 

Ineligible expenses for both Rapid Rehousing and Prevention include:

​

• furniture, food, supplies for participant apartments

• on-going cleaning services for participant apartments

• participant debt such as medical bills

• credit card payments

• vehicle repair or payments

• pet care

• direct payments to participants

• motel room rental (quarantining would be eligible under shelter)

• rental assistance to any housing project which is already subsidizing rent, (security deposits are eligible if unavailable elsewhere). *Remember, you can pay 100% of rent.
