The purpose of the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program is to assist individuals and families to quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis or homelessness. These Rapid Re-Housing and Prevention financial support services are offered to individuals and families in Ontario, Seneca and Yates Counties.
This program can help individuals and families that:

are homeless
-
are at risk of homelessness
-
who are at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).

need housing assistance
-
need help with security deposits
-
need help with utility payments
-
need help with moving costs
-
need help with motel and hotel vouchers
-
fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence
Ineligible expenses for both Rapid Rehousing and Prevention include:

furniture, food, supplies for participant apartments
-
on-going cleaning services for participant apartments
-
participant debt such as medical bills
-
credit card payments
-
vehicle repair or payments
-
pet care
-
direct payments to participants
-
motel room rental (quarantining would be eligible under shelter)

rental assistance to any housing project which is already subsidizing rent, (security deposits are eligible if unavailable elsewhere). *Remember, you can pay 100% of rent.
